Sketchable Artisans Spotlight: Mike Hearsey
“I use Sketchable for almost everything.”
A self-taught artist, influenced by family, Hearsey started his artistic journey with traditional pencil, painting, and pen and ink production before moving to the digital art world of Sketchable. Drawn to Sketchable’s user-friendly interface, he remarked:
“As soon as I used [Sketchable] I could produce something like I could on paper, changing colors or tool settings very quickly which suits the way I draw.”
Speed is no stranger to Mike, an avid mountain biker, whose most recent work showcases stylized bikes and, as a result, hundreds of requests for commissions and companies. Because of the strong demand for Mike’s work, using Sketchable makes it easy to export his work to applications like Photoshop to add text, crop, or change file type. In addition, Sketchable allows for the import of layers from Sketchable itself or from other programs, allowing Mike to do things like round out a bike frame with wheels from another sketch. Moving forward, Hearsey is continuing to hone and improve his craft by drawing on larger 300dpi pages where he is planning to expand his work to include landscapes and portraits. His work will most probably continue to have a link to mountain biking because as he puts it:
“I believe it’s good to draw what you enjoy when you can, your artwork will always be better that way.”
